Frustration and Disapointment

First let me say that my trip to Costa Rica was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, Ill be blogging about it a bit later after I get my photos organized.

I am very frustrated with the airlines and the way they operate. I travel frequently and when I do I almost never check bags because of exactly what just happened to me twice in one week where i had to wait a long time for my bags. Since there are two separate incidents I will explain them separately. The first one was on my way back from Costa Rica, first we were supposed to stay at this hotel in San Jose, the Capitol of Costa Rica, but the hotel was nothing like what we were told about so we decided to leave Costa Rica a day early and spend the night in Miami before returning to Chicago. Everything went very smoothly until we got to Ohare, we waited almost two hours for our bags to come out, why? Because there was a shift change and the baggage handlers just dropped what they were doing and left. I feel like they don't realize that they are in the service industry, I am a paying customer and as a paying customer I feel like i should be entitled to certain things, one of these things being not having to wait two bloody hours for my bags because of a shift change. I'm sorry if anyone is offended but has our society forgotten how to be considerate? Another thing was when I was I was flying back to Syracuse and I had to check two bags seeing how I am going to be here for a few months seeing as I'm in college. That cost me $20 for the extra bag. Plus the extra bag happened to be over the weight limit by 6 lbs so that cost me another $50. I was very angry, the airlines assume that everyone travels for short periods of time, thus no one should have more than one bag and it will be less than 50 lbs. I tried to tell the agent that I wasn't exactly going for a weekend trip and she didn't even give me the courtesy of a polite response like "I'm sorry sir, but I can't give you a break" instead she says something along the lines of "Either you take 6 lbs our of your bag or pay $50." I guess customer service has disappeared. Should I not expect to be treated like a human being anymore?

On another note, I am a huge supported of President Elect Barrack Obama, I spent 3 months of my life going to his Chicago office every day and making phone calls for his campaign. I was very active in the campaign when I got back to Syracuse as well helping out with on campus rallies. I was really hoping to get invited to the Inauguration, but I did not. My father who donated lots of money to the campaign got invited, but not the rest of the family and he is too busy to go, and because his name is on the invitation I can't go in his place. If anyone in the Obama administration reads this before the 20th and wants to invite me, you can email me at orionfield1023@gmail.com and I will give you my address to send the Invitation to. There is nothing I want more in the world than to go and see history being made in person.
